St. Luke’s Associate Priest in Indonesia

Recently (July 9), we were blessed to have Father James Long and his family return to St. Luke’s Parish and give a report on his ministry to Jakarta, Indonesia. He preached during our worship services from Romans 8:18-23, reminding us that this world is not our ultimate home, and that in many ways we as Christians resemble the story of the ugly duckling. Following the service, we watched a slideshow and heard about his work in planting a church, mentoring pastoral interns, preaching to school children, and spreading the love and good news of Jesus Christ in a predominantly Muslim community. It was a great encouragement to us as we heard about how our brothers and sisters across the globe are giving a great testimony to the faith.

Here is Father Long’s sermon:

Desmond T. Coffee

We mourn the passing of our dear friend Des Coffee who was a faithful member of our Tuesday Bible study at St. Luke’s. We so appreciated his sharing of his extensive knowledge of the Bible and deep faith with us. We remember his quiet confidence in God, and we know that he is now resting in God’s care. Our prayers go out to his family as they mourn their loss of him. May we all rejoice that heaven has a new member!
