4th of July Celebration on the Green

St. Luke’s Church will once again be a presence on the village green in Amherst as the town, along with the rest of the country,  celebrates Independence Day. It looks like the weather will cooperate, and there will certainly be large crowds both at the parade and on the green, viewing a wide variety of exhibits and booths. This is a wonderful opportunity to be salt and light in the world, as Bishop Webb talked about in his sermon this morning.

Chair person for the event, Laurie Dipietro, reminds everyone that the greatest need for volunteers is between 11:00 and 1:00 PM, following the parade. She would like to remind people to bring a lawn chair, water, and sunblock. If you have forgotten which shift you signed up for, call Laurie. Setup of the booth starts at 8:00 AM, and some of the early workers will need breaks as the day progresses. If you have not sighed up, you’re welcome to come anyway. Your help will be much appreciated.

This year, Cupcakes 101 in Bedford has donated 250 (!) cake pops, and many hands will be needed to distribute these to folks passing by.
